The Netherlands is a small country in Western Europe that is perfect for visitors. Its size makes it a perfect country to explore by car. It has beautiful old cities with lots of canals and bridges. You can enjoy iconic canals, historic houses and tour amazing art museums like the famous Rijksmuseum with masterpieces by Dutch painters.

Outside the capital of Amsterdam, other Dutch cities like Rotterdam, The Hague, and Utrecht have interesting modern architecture and lively cafes and restaurants. The countryside of the Netherlands is an arrangement of green with windmills, tulip fields in the spring and charming villages.

  • Bicycle heaven The Netherlands is home to more bicycles than any other country. The Dutch own a whopping 22.5 million bicycles. Based on their population, there are more bikes than people.
  • Flower Power they’re the world's biggest exporter of flowers. They produce 80% of the world's flower bulbs and accounting for nearly 90% of global tulip farming. The famous Keukenhof Park is the largest flower garden in the world with around 800 varieties of tulips.
  • Pioneers of technology Dutchmen are responsible for a lot of tech. CD, DVD, Blu-ray, WiFi and programming language Python (powering most of the world’s AI) were all (co)created in The Netherlands.
  • Cheese connoisseurs they eat the most cheese in the world per capita, around 21 kilos per person annually. The country is famous for its Gouda, Edam and Maasdam cheese brands.
